Carols Whipple at Royal Free Hospital London

Carol was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2017 after turning yellow with jaundice.  From that point on we went on a roller-coaster ride of hospital visits and treatments starting with a whipple operation to remove her pancreas, spleen, duodenum, bile duct and part of her stomach. This left her with a compromised immune system and with type 1 diabetes. The operation took 12 hours to complete and she then spent 2 day in intensive care before being moved to a ward for a two-week recuperation and then home.

Throughout her time in hospital she never complained, felt sorry for herself. In fact, the opposite her concerns were for me. She laughed and joked and posed for some interesting pictures.
